About our garage decluttering service

The garage is where most UK homes put everything that has nowhere else to go: boxes from the last move, old furniture, broken bikes, half-empty paint tins, garden tools and things kept just in case. Over time it fills up until the car lives on the drive and finding anything means moving everything else first.

We take on the whole job: sorting through the contents with you, separating what you want to keep from what can be sold, donated, recycled or disposed of, and taking away the unwanted items in the same visit. Where you want it, we finish by sweeping out and arranging what is left so the space works properly.

Our garage decluttering services

Full garage clear-out

Everything you no longer want removed in one visit, from furniture and boxes to old tools and garden waste, leaving the garage empty and swept.

Sort and declutter

We work through the contents with you, item by item or box by box, into keep, donate, recycle and dispose, so nothing important goes by mistake.

Recycling and donation

Usable furniture, bikes, tools and household goods go to reuse charities where they will take them, and metal, wood, cardboard and electricals go to the right recycling streams.

Hazardous items handled correctly

Paint, oil, chemicals, gas bottles and batteries cannot go in general waste. We set them aside and take them to an appropriate facility, or advise on your nearest recycling centre where we cannot carry them.

Garage organising

Once the clutter has gone, the items you keep are grouped and arranged on shelving or racking so they are easy to find, with space left for the car or a workshop area.

Moving, probate and pre-sale clearances

Garages cleared before a house sale, after a bereavement or ahead of a move, with careful handling of anything that may have sentimental or financial value.

How it works

  1. Send your details

Tell us the size of the garage, how full it is and what kind of items are in there. A couple of photos from the doorway help us price accurately.

  2. Fixed quote

You get one clear price for the labour, loading, transport and disposal, agreed before we start.

  3. Sort with you

On the day we work through the contents with you, or follow your instructions if you would rather not be there.

  4. Cleared and taken away

Unwanted items are loaded and removed, with donations and recycling separated from general waste.

  5. Swept and arranged

The garage is swept out and the items you keep are put back neatly, ready to use.

Garage decluttering: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to declutter a garage?

A typical single garage that is moderately full takes two to four hours with a two-person team. A packed double garage, or a job where you want to go through every box, can take a full day. Adding shelving and organising at the end adds a few more hours.

Do I need to be there?

It helps for the sorting stage, because only you know what is worth keeping. If you cannot be there, mark or list what stays and we will follow your instructions, sending photos of anything we are unsure about before it goes.

What do you do with the things I do not want?

Items in good condition go to reuse charities and furniture projects where they are accepted. Metal, wood, cardboard, garden waste and electricals are separated for recycling. Only what cannot be reused or recycled goes for general disposal, through licensed sites, and you receive a waste transfer note.

Can you take old paint, oil and chemicals?

These are hazardous or special waste and cannot be mixed with general rubbish. Many household waste recycling centres accept small quantities of paint, oil and garden chemicals from householders. We will set them aside, and either take them to a suitable facility or tell you exactly where to take them. Gas bottles usually go back to the supplier.

What if I find something valuable or personal?

Anything that looks personal, such as photographs, documents or letters, or potentially valuable, such as tools, collectables or vintage items, is put aside for you to check. We never dispose of paperwork without your agreement.

Can you clear a garage for a house sale or after a bereavement?

Yes. We regularly clear garages ahead of a sale or for executors and families. We can work to a deadline, liaise with estate agents for access, and take extra care with items that may need to be kept for the family or valued.

Is decluttering cheaper than a skip?

For many garages it works out similar or cheaper once you factor in skip hire, a possible road permit and the time it takes to sort and load everything yourself. A skip also cannot take electricals, paint or gas bottles, which are common in garages.

Will you organise what is left?

Yes, if you want us to. We group items by use, such as garden, DIY, sport and storage boxes, and arrange them on your shelving. If you would like new shelving or wall racks fitted, mention it when you ask for a quote.
